Dismantled and demolished plant and associated structures incorporating Granulation, Ammonia, Carbon Dioxide and Urea Plants, including other redundant facilities and buildings with associated asbestos removal from various structures. A stationary shiploader on a condemned wharf resulted in the need to engineer a solution to dismantle it safely.
In January 2023 Ausdecom commenced the planning and engineering works to carefully remove a 25m tall building wrapping around a live electrical substation, a 67M tall concrete circular Prill tower, and a 30m tall shiploader out on a wharf with a loading of 3T, and various other manufacturing plant and buildings associated with fertiliser production.
Onsite works commenced in February 2023 and concluded in September 2024. Some of the key requirements were to demolish and remove the waste whilst working in a live operating plant, therefore not interrupting ongoing operations and consequently interrupting current customers, along with no harm to personnel or the environment, and maximising value for money, all of which were achieved.
Key structures included cooling towers with asbestos cladding and internal walls, felling of structures and stacks up to 40m tall, removal of 40T vessels from structures to be reused, various size above ground storage tanks, asbestos clad buildings up to 35m tall, jet engines, exchangers, steam generators and a reformers.
