Demolition of the Power Plant & Laundry buildings and the workshop buildings located at the Nyrstar Site in Port Pirie. Each area contains a mixture of process vessels including equipment, pipework, tanks and buildings of varying dimensions.
Works included:
- Controlled removal and disposal of friable and non-friable asbestos, as per the site-specific asbestos report and portion of works
- Demolition and removal of Power Plant, workshop and crib room buildings, and redundant infrastructure to facilitate a new development
- Removal and onsite stockpiling of all generated material
Demolition work techniques used included:
- the use of a 65Tonne high-reach excavator
- manual demolition of structures working off EWPs to ensure protection of Live services
- Induced controlled collapse of the last structure, away from Live infrastructure
