Scope of Work Completed

Demolition of former storage tanks and terminal facilities. Hazardous structures, including 25 storage tanks were collapsed with care and without use of naked flame or hot work.
In 2014 the BP Refinery ceased manufacture and subsequently commenced decommissioning.
Commencing in October 2016 Ausdecom mobilised supervision, labour and equipment to demolish the former storage tanks and Product Terminal facilities. All of the removal was completed under the BP Permitting System and in close proximity to adjacent ongoing operations.
The majority of work was completed without the use of naked flame hot work. The contractual scope was completed over one month early in a 6-month program, even with 3,600 tonnes of additional scope added to the original program.

Works Included:

  • Over 5,400 tonnes of steel processed and removed from site
  • 2,500m pipework removed over the Brisbane River
  • 3.16km of insulation removed & recycled
  • Handling over 6,600t of steel, concrete and fill in completion of this works
  • 2680m of pipework was removed from above the Brisbane River using a crane barge
  • 25 storage tanks were demolished
  • 313 tonnes of tank plates and pipework were successfully salvaged from within the live ATOM Jet Terminal area
  • 3.16km of insulation was removed & recycled
